Insight No. 10

Does PR Have Value in an AI World?

Absolutely. In fact, it may be more valuable than ever.

Not because AI needs more content.

Because AI needs sources.

Think about two brands competing in the same category.

Brand A has a robust website that does an excellent job explaining the brand, its expertise and the benefits of its products.

Brand B has an average website, but a strong PR program. Its products, people and expertise are regularly featured, quoted and mentioned in respected trade publications and other credible third-party sources.

Now someone asks AI to recommend a solution in that category. Which brand has the advantage? Brand B. Why? Because AI can find more than what Brand B says about itself. It can also find credible third-party sources talking about the brand, its products and its expertise.

Brand A has created a strong story about itself.

Brand B has created a broader body of evidence.

And when AI is deciding which brands to surface, cite or recommend, that third-party evidence can make all the difference.

This is the new value of PR.

PR can essentially become another sales agent for your brand. One that is working every time a potential customer turns to AI and asks, "What are the best brands in this category?" or "Who makes the best solution for this problem?" AI looks at the information it can find.

If it finds your website making the case for your brand, that matters.

But if it also finds trade publications featuring your products, industry articles quoting your experts and multiple credible sources mentioning your brand in connection with that category, it has a much broader body of evidence to draw from.

That gives your brand a greater chance of being surfaced and recommended.

And unlike a traditional sales agent, PR is creating that influence long after the original story was published.

That is what makes PR so powerful in an AI world.

It isn't just generating awareness anymore.

It is helping your brand be recommended.
